Spain Beaches

The warm weather in Spain is ideal for relaxing on sandy beaches. The coastline of Spain is around 4,000 kms long and has plenty of beaches. All the beaches in Spain are located in picturesque settings. Spain offers a huge variety of beaches that have different varieties of sand. Due to varying colors and textures of sand, the beaches in Spain are unique. According to the Foundation for Environmental Education, the beaches in Spain are environmentally healthy. They have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag to 450 beaches in Spain. In Spain, Costa Blanca was awarded 48 Blue flags, while Costa Dorada and Mallorca were offered 37 and 33 Blue Flags respectively. The Blue Flag Campaign offers these awards only if the beaches are in compliance with several criterion regarding the quality of water, and environmental information and education. Other criterion concerning safety devices and environmental management should also be fulfilled to receive this award.
Spain is a perfect holiday destination and has something for everyone. Many beach resorts in Spain offer a large variety of water sport activities such as water-skiing, whitewater rafting and windsurfing. Ibiza Island is very popular for summer parties, while Playa d'en Bossa is the longest sandy beach on the island. There are several nudist beaches in Spain. Playa Des Cavallet is a popular nudist beach in Spain and topless sunbathing is commonly observed on many Spanish beaches.
Tourists have the option of staying in bungalows, holiday complexes or hotels. Campsites, bungalow and holiday complexes are all available. Some Spanish centers can be completely naturist, while some of them may permit nudism only during a particular period or in a particular area. Special discounts are offered to members of the International Naturist Federation (INF) or the Spanish Naturist Federation (FEN).
Many campsites such as the El Portús, in Cartagena (Murcia), the Templo del Sol campsite in Tarragona and the Almanat campsite in Malaga are naturist campsites.
Since Spain has a good weather, it has a heavy influx of tourists throughout the year. It is advisable for tourists to book for their hotel accommodation in advance through the Internet.
